ATTENTION: Distribution of udhiyah
It is known that Lithuanian muslims’ community can not get halal fresh meat easily – not everyone knows how to or has possibility to slaughter an animal, not everyone has money for this. Month of Dhul Hijjah has already started. The pilgrims are already performing their Hajj, may Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) accept it from them, and Eid ul Adha will start soon. It is a chance to do some good deeds and distribute udhiyah meat amongst those in need.
What is the purpose of offering animals as a sacrifice on Eid ul Adha?
This practise of sacrifice is based on a story which is well known in Islam as well as in Judaism and Christianity. Eid ul-Adha commemorates the great event when Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) asked Abraham in a dream to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience. As Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) revealed to him that his “sacrifice” had been fulfilled: he had shown that his love for his Lord (subhana wa ta’ala) superseded all others, that he would make any sacrifice in order to submit to Allah (subhana wa ta’ala). He was then asked to sacrifice a sheep instead of his son. During Eid ul Adha muslims remember this sacrifice of Abraham and a trial of his faith thus they slaughter and offer as a sacrifice animals such as a sheep, cow or goat, single or more, and distribute meat of udhiyah among themselves, their household and the poor or those in need, be it muslims or non-muslims.
We wish to help and distribute part of udhiyah of this Eid al Adha 2015/1436.
Meat will be distributed in Kaunas city on the evening of Thursday, 24th September.
