Impressions from the lecture “Equality in Islam”
In the last November Sunday active members of Muslim community headed to Forty Tatars village. Women and children gathered in Tatar community center to socialize, enjoy each other’s company and spend quality time.
The event began with a welcome speech and a brief lecture about the equality in Islam, the brotherhood sisterhood between Muslims and a harmonious society regardless of race, ethnicity, culture or other differences.
When the mid-day prayer time came, women gathered in the historical mosque of Forty Tatars village. The current wooden mosque has been here for 200 years, parish already counts 458 years of existence.
After the prayer everybody was invited to try various techniques of scarves binding or to have hands decorated with beautiful temporary henna designs. Shy women were encouraged and actively started participating in all activities. Some of them even took the initiative and with a good dose of humor started real fashion show demonstrating Kazanian, Tatar or the methods they created in the current moment of covering hair. Meanwhile children were busy in a creative corner, where the enthusiasm and ideas flowed over the edge. Impressive Kaaba or mosques drawings fascinated everybody.
Local community members surprised everyone with the delicious, traditional Tatar cake “Šimtalapis” and the head of the community Fatima Buinovska warmed the event further by genuine care and hospitality.
Thanks to Allah and each other for a meaningful afternoon and opportunity to expand and strengthen the acquaintance of members of Muslim community from all around Lithuania.
