Original oya lace: the secret language of Turkish women

Original oya lace:

the secret language of Turkish women

modelis3nOya is way of crocheting by a needle or a hook and sometimes it is called needle crochet. It is a type of arts, which is nearly to be forgetten nowadays, but it was very popular in Turkey. Turkish women used to express their thoughts and emotions by it. Colorfulness of the lace used to reveal hidden feelings and the forms and complexity of the lace would show the skills of the woman.

modelis1We want to invite all women together to learn this way of crocheting every second Wednesday in the mosque of Kaunas at 4:30 PM. The first lesson will be hold on 14th October, 2015.
